On Tuesday, September 4th, 186 amateurs and 62 Canadian Tour professionals will be teeing it up in The Great Waterway Classic Charity Pro-Am in support of the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation. The specific goal of the September 4th Pro-Am is to raise a minimum of $10,000 for mental health education programming.

Recently, Tournament Director David Dargie and videographer Chris Cochrane visited Kingston General Hospital. They filmed an interview with Donna Clarke-McMullen, the Clinical Educator for the Mental Health Program at Kingston General Hospital. As the Clinical Educator in the Mental Health Program at KGH, Donna works with clinical staff in both adult, child and adolescent inpatient units. She co-ordinates and provides education around mental health best practices and care. In her role Donna also orients new staff to the program and works on anti-stigma work throughout the hospital continuing to build the capacity for excellent mental health care always. Many thanks to Donna for putting her work into perspective in this informative video that we encourage you to view and share with others.

Supporting our efforts on September 4th at The Great Waterway Classic Pro-Am will be Paul Langlois and Gord Sinclair of the Tragically Hip. They will be heading up two Pro-Am teams that will be auctioned online. They are also bringing some Tragically Hip memorabilia to the silent and live auctions that will be held at the Pro-Am dinner. Many thanks to Paul and Gord for taking time out of their very busy schedules to play in our Pro-Am and help raise some funds for the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation through the auction of their two teams and the Tragically Hip memorabilia.

Teams participating in the Charity Pro-Am will also participate in a “Draw Party” that will be held at the Glen House Resort on Monday, September 3rd beginning at 7:30 PM. At that draw party, captains from the 62 amateur teams of three players each will draw for their Canadian Tour player. The opportunity to bid on these picks will also be offered and that bidding for the professionals will be competitive. The Charity Pro-Am will feature a $25,000 hole-in-one prize sponsored by Bradley Insurance and Aviva, our season-long hole-in-one sponsors at almost 50 charity tournaments. The lease on a new car from Gananoque Chevrolet Cadillac Buick GMC, as well as a $5,000 cash prize offered by RBC will also be offered for any amateur golfer who scores a hole-in-one at the Pro-Am. Prizing from Taylor Made, Cleveland Golf/Srixon and Titleist will be awarded for low team scores at the Charity Pro-Am dinner that will be held at the Glen House Resort.

Pro-Am registration forms are available online at: thegreatwaterwayclassic.ca or by phoning the Evolution Golf offices at 1-855-327-7500. Sign up today and come play with the pros at Smuggler’s Glen on Tuesday, September 4th!
